Productivity is human nature: we are built to problem solve and in some cases, we create problems but that’s a different story. We aspire for challenges and are bored without them. Our challenges look different throughout time: before, our goal was to survive via hunting/gathering. Now, we have passed a state where we no longer have to worry about survival, in that sense. Our brains are now free to think, explore and create: new pressure/fear unlocked

In recent times, the idea of productivity has taken a turn for toxicity as too much of anything does. I started to feel the pressure; I started to feel the pressure for not knowing what I wanted to do with life, for not starting business, presenting at conferences and/or buying property/car. It weighed… heavier and heavier; so did my anxiety and guilt. It’s a depressive masterpiece.

Fast forwarding to right this second, I am choosing to constantly stay true to myself (whatever that means). I realize that productivity is a tool that helps us; it’s an amazing tool but a tool nonetheless. We control our productivity, we don’t let it control us and at a point in my life, I let it control me and my worth. This is why I redefine productivity.

Productivity ≠ grind

Productivity is an umbrella term that can be applied to most aspects of our lives, should we choose to do so. It’s a tool that helps us live in the present while investing into our future simultaneously. For example: I count activities from reading ingredients on products to napping, all as productive. Why? Because caring about what you put in your body is an act of looking out for yourself aka productive; napping is a great energizer which makes you feel good (sometimes) aka productive.

This means that as long as there is net positive (nothing is linear) progress and/or joy in my life, then all is well.

I will be documenting productive things in my life and posting it – maybe you may gain a net positive experience (entertainment, peace, annoyance, etc.) from these posts if you do happen to stumble onto this corner
